Synopsis: Papa Turd, a grotesque, greedy man, who is hungry for power, is convinced by his wife to kill the king of Poland. In the world of Ubu Roi, no one is without flaw; There’s a ghost, war, a bear, and everyone dies (classic). This absurdist parody of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Hamlet, and King Lear shocked and offended audiences with how obscene it was when it premiered in Paris in 1896; just hope you don’t get entangled in the chaos.

Character Breakdown:

• Papa Turd: (Seeking any gender, any age, any ethnicity, any ability) An old, grotesque, greedy, power-hungry man looking to only serve himself

• Mama Turd:  (Seeking any gender, any age, any ethnicity, any ability) Similar to Papa Turd, only looking to serve herself and her own interests

• King Wenceslaus: (Seeking any gender, any age, any ethnicity, any ability) King of Poland

• Bordure/Buggerlaus/Ensemble: (Seeking any gender, any age, any ethnicity, any ability) Bordure is a captain; Buggerlaus is a son of King Wenceslaus

• Boleslaus/Ensemble: (Seeking any gender, any age, any ethnicity, any ability) A son of King Wenceslaus

• Ladislaus/Ensemble: (Seeking any gender, any age, any ethnicity, any ability) A son of King Wenceslaus

Rehearsals and Performances: 

Rehearsals July 5-27, Mon-Fri from 6 pm - 9 pm. Performances at the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival, dates and times TBD.
